Facial Circuits of Planar Graphs and Context-Free Languages

چکیده
Abstrac t . It is known that a language is context-free iff it is the set of borders of the trees of recognizable set, where the border of a (labelled) tree is the word consisting of its leaf labels read from left to right. We give a generalization of this result in terms of planar graphs of bounded tree-width. Here the border of a planar graph is the word of edge labels of a path which borders a face for some planar embedding. We prove that a language is context-free iff it is the set of borders of the graphs of a set of (labelled) planar graphs of bounded tree-width which is definable by a formula of monadic second-order logic.

Analysis of Planar Microstrip Circuits Using Three-Dimensional Transmission Line Matrix Method
The frequency-dependent characteristics of microstrip planar circuits have been previously analyzed using several full-wave approaches. All those methods directly give characteristic of the circuits frequency by frequency. Computation time becomes important if these planar circuits have to be studied over a very large bandwidth. The transmission line matrix (TLM) method presented in this paper ...
متن کاملDesigning and Learning Substitutable Plane Graph Grammars
Though graph grammars have been widely investigated for 40 years, few learning results exist for them. The main reasons come from complexity issues that are inherent when graphs, and a fortiori graph grammars, are considered. The picture is however different if one considers drawings of graphs, rather than the graphs themselves. For instance, it has recently been proved that the isomorphism and...
متن کامل$n$-Array Jacobson graphs
We generalize the notion of Jacobson graphs into $n$-array columns called $n$-array Jacobson graphs and determine their connectivities and diameters. Also, we will study forbidden structures of these graphs and determine when an $n$-array Jacobson graph is planar, outer planar, projective, perfect or domination perfect.
متن کاملIntroduction to rational graphs
Using rationality, like in language theory, we define a family of infinite graphs. This family is a strict extension of the context-free graphs of Muller and Schupp, the equational graphs of Courcelle and the prefix recognizable graphs of Caucal. We give basic properties, as well as an internal and an external characterization of these graphs. We also show that their traces form an AFL of recur...
متن کاملThe Power of Programmed Grammars with Graphs from Various Classes
Programmed grammars, one of the most important and well investigated classes of grammars with context-free rules and a mechanism controlling the application of the rules, can be described by graphs. We investigate whether or not the restriction to special classes of graphs restricts the generative power of programmed grammars with erasing rules and without appearance checking, too. We obtain th...
